Artist Statement

 

 

 

Either cute or cool, keep it simple.

 

As a straightforward person, I like to make simple art and design. I do not like art or design that has complicated elements visualy or physically. Because I grew up in a region in Japan where humor is a natural part of the culture, having humor is a natural part of me and I like to laugh a lot. I like to incorporate humor to my art and design. I want to make people smile and happy through my art and design.

Being Japanese, I have an appreciation for the ordinary fixtures of life. Therefore, I find something lovely or interesting in every little thing and make my art and design lovely. In addition, my mother’s passion for tiny and cute things greatly influences my art and design. In addition, exposed to other cultures like American culture influenced me to make cool and simple art and design. Therefore, I make simple art or design either cute or cool to make people smile.
